Podcasting in this New Age
You probably noticed the pictures above and wondered, “Why is there a butterfly garden, claymation armature creation, and a torn apart window on a Podcasting page? Well, these are exactly the sorts of things that make for great Podcasts! Students (and adults) take everyday situations and share the narrative about the event. That’s daily life, and Podcasting allows people to share the story with the world. Imagine the possibilities!
Welcome to K12 Podcasting.com, a Web site devoted to innovative uses of Podcasting in K-12 classrooms. Podcasting is an online radio show that one creates and hosts on the Internet. Listeners can subscribe and have the latest edition downloaded to a music program such as iTunes, directly to their computer. You can then synchronize the Podcast to your MP3 player, such as Apple’s iPod, and listen on the go, in your car, or anywhere with headphones. This is incredibly powerful, and really puts the power squarely into the hands of the average person, like me. Imagine the possibilities! Students have to learn through practice many language arts skills to plan, create, record, produce, and host their production. Check out the Podcasts page for a sample and the latest show.
You’ll also find my take on educational trends and news, and informative and creative uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Check out my weekly Blog for the latest editorial.
This is my attempt to contribute to the knowledge through my own experiences from a teacher in-the-trenches, day-to-day. May my sharing inspire you in some way. Leave me a comment either way. I welcome the discussion.
