Hays County Voters,

I am running for Hays County Clerk. I have worked in the Hays County Clerk’s office for 24 years. In 1995, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Texas Sate University. The first twelve years that I worked for the Hays County Clerk’s office, I was responsible for all Official Public Records, Marriage License, Birth Records, Death Records, and Discharge Records. Because my degree is in Criminal Justice; I asked to be moved to the Hays County Justice Center in order to work with the Courts Division. Since 1997, I have been working with Criminal, Civil, Probate, Guardianship, Mental Commitment, Juvenile, and Jury Duty Records. In this division, I am also responsible for supervising staff in this department.

I feel that is extremely important to provide quality customer service for the citizens of Hays County. As a Chief Deputy, I ensure hard work from our team on a daily basis to make this happen. I will maintain current technological expertise and ensure that my staff will uphold the highest quality of service due to consistent, technical training. I will also operate my office with a friendly, open door policy.

I am a lifelong residence of San Marcos. I am married to Dario ‘Dodie’ Mendoza and have a daughter Deseree. My parents are Pete and Josie Islas also of San Marcos.
